Pastor shot, imam kidnapped

On the evening of 30th September, two Muslim extremists shot and wounded a Presbyterian pastor in Faisalabad, while hurling abuse at the Christian faith.  As the pastor was walking with a young man from church, Nabeel Hussain and another unknown person, shoved Pastor Babar Bhatti to the ground and then shot him while shouting abusive and crude words about Jesus and Christians.  Pastor Bhatti has received several threats over the last while from Muslim extremists who are unhappy about his working in non-Christian areas.  He has also had a false blasphemy case made against him by an Imam several years ago, but the local administration defended him against the malicious attack.

In a separate development, Tahir Ashrafi, a very senior and somewhat extremist Islamic cleric who nevertheless has spoken up for Rimsha Masih to some degree, was kidnapped on Thursday evening, apparently after visiting the German embassy.  Security forces and police quickly reacted and recovered him, but unconscious after apparently being drugged.  Sources say that his kidnappers were arrested.  Reasons for the kidnap are so far unknown - or at least not made public.

Gunmen open fire on bus of nuns and Cathedral - one dead

The Catholic and Protestant dioceses in Hyderabad organized a joint protest against the 'Innocence of Muslims' film on 16th September.  While they were driving back from this protest is support of their Muslim countrymen, unknown gunman opened fire on a van in which nuns and other women were travelling, injuring the driver, Imran Masih.  In addition, unknown gunmen opened fire on the St Xavier church in Hyderabad, according to a source, killing a man known only as Mangi.

Vinny Masih of the BPCA said;

"This incident illustrates the level of hatred that is meted out on Christians.  Christians in Pakistan protested on behalf of Muslim's, in a show of solidarity,  yet became targets for another sickening attack. Our defenceless minority living there have become anathema to many despite so much positive contribution."

Breaking - 3 Christian boys killed in Essa Nagri

Update :

It now appears that there were two fatalities and four seriously wounded when Muslim extremists opened fire in Essa Nagri.  This is the third attack within about a week at the location, with a total of four dead, and many injured.  According to local pastors, there is still absolutely no support from the police, political leaders and virtually all the media.  He calls for prayer for the Christians of Essa Nagri.

1 killed, many injured in police backed Muslim land grab near Lahore

We have reports of yet another violent Muslim land grab.  We don't have any further details, not even names of victims.  Once again, influential Muslims have attacked vulnerable Christians to take their land, shooting many - one victim was killed (pictured here), and another was kidnapped, another with serious gunshot wounds, and 5 others also injured.  The crime happened near Phool Nagar, a large town some 20 miles south west of Lahore.  

An FIR has been registered with the police, but the police keep making lame excuses to avoid arresting the influential perpetrators, not least because this theft of 40 acres of land was aided and abetted by police officials, again a far from unknown circumstance.
