Desmond Fernandes is a genocide scholar and author of
The Kurdish and Armenian Genocides: From Censorship and Denial to Recognition (Apec: Stockholm) and
several books and articles focusing upon state targeting of the “Other” (in
particular, diasporic and refugee/'minority' communities). Four books of his are
due to be released this spring: 'Embedded Experts', Commercialisation,
Militarisation and Securitisation of the US-UK Academies (Volumes 1-3, Apec:
Stockholm) and Genocide and Modernity, Turkish State Terror and
the Targeting of the ‘Other’ (Apec:
Stockholm). A former Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at De
Montfort University, he is an Advisory Council member of the European
Union-Turkey Civic Commission and a member of the Campaign Against Criminalising
Communities (CAMPACC) and has made numerous presentations at community and
public venues, university conferences and the UK Houses of Parliament. Further
