Sialkot Christians call for more security in Pakistan

Sialkot: March 12, 2013. (PCP) The Christian leaders of Sialkot district here today addressing a press conference at the office of PAK Baptist Medical Dental Fellowship demanded adequate security for Christian in Pakistan.

Before press conference in a meeting Christian leaders focused on recent incidences of violence against Christians in Joseph Colony in Badami Bagh, near Lahore.

Christian leaders Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghouri, Professor Yousf Nyear, and Pastors Javid Gull, Jhon Sana Uhlal and Daneal Zikrea strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on the houses of poor Christians in that area.

They blamed State and local government officials for failing to provide protection to Christian families, homes and churches.

This is not the first time in recent weeks that the government has failed to provide Christian citizens protection. Those committing similar acts of aggression and violence against Christians in Gojra and Shantinagar have been identified, but not arrested.

In Joseph Colony, nearly 178 houses were burned before the police reached the area. Some police officers were suspended, but not terminated, for their inaction in the face of citizen violence. These Christian leaders stated dissatisfaction with government action and reporting of the violence against Christians in Pakistan. If the government is serious about protecting Christian life and property, laws and behaviour should reflect this.
